UL Alumni Gala
April 15, 2011
UL Alumni Association Commissions Artwork by Tony Forrest and Moss & Veerina Interiors for 14th Annual Spring Gala Auction. The University of Louisiana at Lafayette Alumni Association Executive Director, Dan Hare, commissioned Louisiana artist, Tony Forrest, to produce a custom artwork for a fundraiser auction at the 2011 Spring Gala. Sarah Moss and Vasavi Veerina, with Moss & Veerina Interiors, are both UL graduates and served as color consultants to the piece.
Entitled ''Color Motion'', the painting is an energetic original abstract featuring a progressive palette of oil and acrylic. Vermilion and digital red serve as a commanding backdrop to a balance of dark and light colors. Swirls of yellow and gold leaf float above shadows of indigo, slate and oxidized crimson. The luminous finish further lends to its luxurious and timeless appeal.
Tony Forrest is a nationally acclaimed Southern artist with a prolific body of work that reflects his talent, impeccable attention to detail and broad realm of study. His range of style includes abstract design, expressionism, traditional and creative portraiture, landscape and still life. His versatility in medium includes oil, acrylic, watercolor, and egg tempera. He has attracted clients nationwide, including such notables as American tennis star John Isner. Recent local achievements include a 2010 Best in Show title at the Natchitoches Art Guild Annual Juried Exhibit and a 1st Place winning at the 2011 Associated Louisiana Artists Juried Exhibit in Lake Charles, LA.
